From Patan's double-ikat silk to Kutch's mirror-worked embroidery, Gujarat's craft tradition is built substantially on textile technique refined to an extreme degree of difficulty.

Patan's double-ikat Patola weaving, in which both warp and weft threads are pre-dyed to match, is considered among the most technically demanding weaving techniques anywhere, while bandhani tie-dye and the mirror-and-thread embroidery of the Kutch region draw on traditions carried by specific pastoral and artisan communities across the state.
Gujarat's merchant wealth also shaped its architecture: elaborately carved havelis and entrance doors are found across the state alongside Rajasthan's, with a torana hung at nearly every household celebration in both states alike.
