Central India's tribal art finds its clearest expression in Gond painting, dense dot-and-line work depicting a cosmology where animals, trees, and spirits carry equal weight to human figures.

Gond art's fine repeated-dot technique, once painted only on mud walls and floors for festival occasions, has become one of India's most widely exhibited tribal art forms since artists began working on paper and canvas from the 1980s onward.
Chanderi and Maheshwari handloom weaving, both known for fine, lightweight silk-cotton blends, add a textile tradition to a state whose craft identity runs strongly through both tribal painting and courtly weaving history.
