The birth anniversary of Jhulelal, revered by the Sindhi community as an incarnation of Varuna, lord of the waters — celebrated with river processions and water rituals.
सिंधी समुदाय
Jhulelal is said to have appeared in the 10th century to protect the Sindhi Hindu community from religious persecution by a local ruler, manifesting from the Indus river on a fish — giving him his alternate name, Uderolal.
The day centers on a Baharana Sahib procession, in which a decorated palanquin bearing water, a lit lamp, and fruit is carried to the riverbank or nearest body of water in prayer.
